The Town of Clarkson lies just north of the Village of Brockport. Brockport lies within The Town of Sweden, adjacent to and south of the Town of Clarkson The PBS series America's Walking, hosted by Brockport's own Mark Fenton. Rochester Bicycling Club sponsors many "Slow and Easy" bike rides through Monroe and neighboring counties, including a number from Spencerport to Brockport along the canal towpath. Online Pedometric Map provides an interactive map of anywhere in the United States on which one can mark out a walking or biking route and obtain mileage as well as a printable detailed map. Parks and Trails of New York contains lots of information about greenways, trails, bike tours, locator maps and more. A Website devoted to Bicycle Friendly Communities that gives us something to which we may aspire. The Landmark Society of Western New York is one of the oldest preservation organizations in the country. Its mission is to discover, protect, and revitalize the architectural and related cultural heritage of the Rochester region, and to educate and inform the community about that heritage. This Website includes a wealth of information about historic buildings in Rochester and its surroundings. The Western Monroe Historic Society maintains the historic Morgan-Manning House on Main Street in Brockport. SUNY College at Brockport is located just a few blocks west of the Morgan-Manning House. The college provides numerous cultural opportunities for the community, including theater, dance, art exhibitions, and sports. Footprint Press, owned and operated by Sue and Rich Freeman, publishes a number of detailed guides to hiking and biking in western New York. The Genesee Valley Chapter of the Adirondack Mountain Club offers numerous hiking and paddling opportunities at all levels of skill. Art Walks on Water promotes the development of art projects along the Erie Canal. |
