The Brockport Police Department is comprised of various officers who have undergone extensive training to become certified in specialized fields of police work.  

K9 Unit:

Meet K9 Brock and his handler Officer Sime!  K9 Brock is a German Shepard from Czechoslovakia.  He joins Ofc. Sime when he is working his tour of duty & gets to play ball when they are back at home.  Ofc. Sime & K9 Brock conduct hundreds of hours of mandatory training each year.  K9 Brock is trained in patrol & narcotics detection.  Be sure to check them out on Instagram @ K9_Brock.

Investigations:

Investigator Dawson overseas investigations in the Brockport Police Department.  Investigator Dawson has attended training across New York State and has served 1.5 years with the Monroe County Heroin Task Force.

Drug Recognition Expert:

Officer Vadas is one of 330 drug recognition officers across New York State.  Officer Vadas attended months of training in New York State and Florida in order to successfully obtain the Certification of D.R.E.  Officer Vadas is re-certified annually in order to maintain this certification.   A Drug Recognition Officer is a national certification recognized by the International Association of Chiefs of Police. The D.R.E. program is recognized in all 50 states as well as Canada.  If a driver is suspected of driving under the influence a D.R.E. is called upon to identify impairment other than or in addition to alcohol from seven drug categories.  D.R.E. are also used to exclude impairment of drugs or medical conditions that may mimic the effects of drug impairment.
