The Village Court is responsible to the electorate for carrying out the functions of this office as defined by State Law.  Judges conduct court sessions and hear civil and criminal cases brought before the Justice Court. They hold arraignments, execute information, and issue warrants for arrest; in addition to instructing juries. They render decisions in non-jury cases; sentence criminals and impose fines. Maintaining order in the courtroom at all times is paramount. Judges oversee the administrative, stenographic, and clerical work performed by the courts' clerical staff.
